Soiree 3:00-6:00 pm TOBY GOTESMAN SCHNEIER “COLORS of the HOLOCAUST" AMSTERDAM WHITNEY GALLERY, located at 531 West 25th Street, Chelsea-New York City, is proud to exhibit the ground-breaking paintings of TOBY GOTESMAN SCHNEIER, in an historic exhibition entitled "Colors of the Holocaust," which will be on view from May 5-June 14, 2017. A Daughter of Auschwitz survivors, florida resident Toby Gotesman Schneirer's visual imagery portrays the powerful contradictions and bitter ironies of life under the Third Reich. Her oil-on canvas portraits and World War II life-style scenarios reflect the duality of the holocaust, illustrating that a vibrant haute bourgeoisie life style co-existed along side the unspeakable horrors of children being torn from their mothers, or hiding for protection underneath a sofa. A visual counterpoint to the holocaust and Nazi history, Ms. Gotesman Schneier cogently states: " The artist are the eyes and the ears of the world, reinforcing humanity to remember the forgotten. In other holocaust paintings, the coloration is reflected in a palette of dark muddy browns, greys or blacks, whereas I illustrate the dichotomy of life under the Third Reich reverberating with a kaleidoscope of rich hues." With a life-affirming palette of cerulean blues, sun-kissed yellows, apple greens and pomegranate reds, Toby Gotesman Schneier portrays the affluence of many of the bourgeoisie of the Third Reich, comfortably situated in their well-appointment homes, festooned with festive flowers and the amenities of life. She then juxtaposes them next to poignant, heart-wrenching Concentration Camp portraits of children who have witnessed the horrors and monstrosities of life. Ms Gotesman Schneier concludes: "I paint with the hope that my portraits will empower and inspire people to never forget." Sophisticated in execution and stunning in effect, Toby Gotesman Schneier’s globally acclaimed artwork has catapulted her to national and international recognition. Housed in private collections worldwide, Ms. Gotesman Schneier’s Holocaust Collection, which she began in 2013, has gleaned extensive attention from the international Jewish community in addition to being included in Vad Yashem’s International Archive of Holocaust Art. Amsterdam Whitney Gallery is proud to shine the spotlight on this museum-caliber contemporary master! When color is right, form is right. Color is everything..." Contemporary master Ms. Toby Gotesman Schneier’s paintings are expressed in bold, undisguised brushstrokes and high-keyed, vibrant colors. Transcending the requirements of everyday reality, Ms. Gotesman Schneier emphasizes painterly qualities and strong colors over realistic values to create a world without limitations. Reverberating with intense colors and rich textures that metamorphose into lines and forms, she synthesizes the perfect aesthetic environment where her subjects and nature are combined with dazzling intensity and movement. Drawing influence from the Fauvist movement, Ms. Gotesman Schneier’s luminescent compositions shine the spotlight on the splendors of the sensorial realm and take us on a visual odyssey through our environment. “I am frequently struck by the sheer beauty of the people, objects, and scenes which surround us every day” says Ms. Gotesman Schneier. Channeling her perceptions of our external world through the design elements of line and color, she creates opulent, over-sized canvases intended as expressive rather than representative of internal ideas. The unabashed application of densely rich oil paint builds structural layers atop the flat canvas, exciting viewers with forms captivatingly soaring through the background plane. Unbound by convention, Ms. Gotesman Schneier brilliantly transforms ordinary scenes and objects into re-imagined, provocative works. Replete with nostalgia, each work has its own strong gravitational pull, with incandescent, expressionist compositions that are powerfully imaginative. Surpassing everyday reality, this visionary artist's canvases conjure ebullient spectrums of human emotion. Ms. Gotesman Schneier concludes: "Photos capture a moment, paintings tell a story." Poetic and elegant, Ms. Gotesman Schneier’s strong ties to Judaism and femininity create momentous canvases bursting with active energy and touching sentimentality. With her masterful art as a testament to her beliefs, Ms. Toby Gotesman Schneier’s contemporary canvases are eternal glimpses into enchanted locations and magical subjects, revolutionizing the modern world into a timeless panorama, brimming with hypnotic perspective. Sophisticated in execution and stunning in effect, Toby Gotesman Schneier’s globally acclaimed artwork has catapulted her to national and international recognition. Housed in private collections worldwide, Ms. Gotesman Schneier’s Holocaust Collection, which she began in 2013, has gleaned extensive attention from the international Jewish community in addition to being included in Vad Yashem’s International Archive of Holocaust Art. I love her work. I am so glad I got more than one piece. Vibrant colors and deep texture are the styles I love. I hope others get a chance to buy such beautiful art for many more years.

Toby's art is so profound, beautiful and bold, and makes such a statement. Purchased my first of many, just the other day! I'd buy most of them if I were able! Her various themes and subjects often leave me speechless! I find myself in a difficult position deciding on my next purchase! She is, by far, a deeply committed Artist.
